Thomas M. Evans 

President & CEO

 

Shihan Thomas Evans has studied Sullivan's American Kenpo for over 20 years under Grandmaster Hanshi Larry Sullivan and Vice President Shihan Robin Sullivan. He started training in the martial arts at age four and has been actively training his whole life. He currently holds black belts in three different systems and the highest being a 5th degree black belt in Sullivan's American Kenpo. Shihan Tom achieved mastery in the martial arts at the tender age of 26 which makes him the youngest master in all of the New England region. Shihan Tom continues to train under USA Karate's founder Hanshi Larry Sullivan. Shihan Tom was ranked number one by the New England Karate Commission in the year of 2000 and 2001 for Jr. Black Belt sparring, forms, and self-defense. He is well known for his strong karate tournament background.

 

Shihan Tom graduated from the University of Rhode Island with his bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies in May of 2011. He formally worked as an Academic Advisor with the College Crusade of Rhode Island at William E. Tolman High School in Pawtucket RI and Paul Cuffee Charter School in Providence RI, for more than three years. Shihan Tom also served on the College Crusade committee for college completion and readiness. Shihan Tom recently worked for Fujitsu Electronics as a IT Desktop Engineer for Citizens Bank in Cranston RI. He was then employed by Pomeroy working as a Desktop Engineer for Citizens Bank as a Team Lead with a Comptia A+ certification. In August of 2018 Shihan Tom accepted a position for Citizens Bank as a Business Analyst for Enterprise Services HR and Legal.

"Captain America" Tom Evans had and 8-1 Muay Thai/ Kicboxing Amateur Record and competed in 3 Amateur MMA Fights and 5 Professional MMA Fights. Shihan Tom also made his Pro Muay Thai kickboxing debut for the largest organization in the country Lion Fight Promotion May 23rd, 2014 at Foxwoods Casino. He was the first fight on national television. He performed well enough to sign a 3 fight contract deal with the largest Muay Thai Promotion in the United States. Shihan Tom retired from in ring competition on February 3rd, 2018 with a 1st round TKO win for Lion Fight Promotions. He than came back in won a Unanimous Decision in July again for Lion Fight Promotions taking the fight on 9 days notice.

 

In September of 2014, Shihan Tom was blessed with a little baby girl named Leila Camilla Evans.

Daniel J. Barzykowski

Community Awareness Director 

 

Daniel Barzykowski, began studying martial arts under Soke Richard Petronelli’s system Te Combat Kuntao Jiu Jitsu in 1998 and has since received his 3rd Dan under Soke Petronelli. He has had the opportunity to train with many talented and dedicated Martial Artists and enjoys learning from and sharing knowledge with practitioners who have a true passion and respect for the arts and their history.

Daniel is a 19 year veteran of the Central Falls Police Department where he ascended to the rank of Major in charge of Field Operations, overseeing the Uniformed Division, Detective Bureau and Communications Unit. Throughout his law enforcement career he has dedicated his time and energy to teaching "Use of Force" to Correctional Officers, Police Officers and State Troopers. He has spent six years as the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy’s Lead Use of Force Instructor, where he was certified by the Police Officer’s Commission on Standards and Training. Daniel is one of only three Master Instructors in the State of Rhode Island in Kevin Dillion’s L.O.C.K.U.P. Police Combat System which the municipal curriculum is built around.

Daniel has a Bachelor of Science from Roger Williams University with a Major in Criminal Justice and a Minor in Public Administration. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration from Salve Regina University and is currently enrolled in a second Master’s of Science degree program with a concentration in Cyber Crimes and Cyber Intelligence at Salve Regina University.

Daniel spends his free time studying, training with friends and with his wife, Laura who is also a huge fan of Mixed Martial Arts. He has a strong passion for public service; as such he dedicates time fundraising and supporting local charities to help those less fortunate. 

Thomas D. Evans

Treasurer

 

Mr. Evans was president of the Central Falls Little League for 6 years; he was also the vice president for 3 and served as the equipment manager for 1 year. He was inducted into the Central Falls Little League Hall of Fame in 2006 in recognition for outstanding dedication to the children of Central Falls.  Mr. Evans also served as General Manager for the Pop Warner Football Central Falls Panthers organization for 2 years. Mr. Evans serves as the director of operations at the Team United Martial Academy.  He has dedicated his life to serving children from the inner city and is well respected for his years of service within the martial arts, baseball, and football recreational services.

Jason Calixto

Chief Financial Officer

 

Jason Calixto was one of the first students of the Team United Martial Arts Academy and achieved his Black Belt in Sullivan’s American Kenpo under Shiahn Tom’s instruction in 2011.  Jason actively served in the military for well over 10 years and is well experienced in his field of accounting. Jason has competed in martial arts tournaments and amateur boxing fights. Mr. Calixto earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rhode Island College in 2011.  He is currently employed as a Senior Accountant for a software company in Massachusetts.

 

Stephen Lombardi

Director of Educational Awareness 

 

During his 20-year law enforcement career with the Warwick Police Department (WPD), Stephen earned the reputation of being versatile both operationally and as a training facilitator.  Stephen played a key role in multi-disciplinary team investigations in the areas of elder abuse, as the senior police advocate, and sex offender compliance investigations. Stephen also served as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal assigned to the Violent Fugitive Task Force, and as a senior operator on the WPD SWAT Team React Unit.  On the training side, he was a statewide trainer for law enforcement in Active Shooter response, trained law enforcement and community members in recognizing signs of both elder abuse and domestic violence, and lead corporate training seminars on the subject of workplace violence. Stephen also educated hundreds of community members on safety topics, ranging from child safety to elder safety. He retired from the WPD in July of 2017 as a Patrol Sergeant. 

 

At Spartan International Consulting Group (SICG), Stephen plays a similar diverse role; as Director of Corporate Investigations he meets with our corporate clients to ascertain their needs to protect their company’s assets.  His team of retired veteran law enforcement officers is uniquely qualified to handle all aspects of an investigation, from Computer Forensics to conventional surveillance procedures.

As a Use of Force Master Instructor at SICG, he conducts self-protection training for both law enforcement/security professionals and private citizens, especially in the areas of unarmed combatives and handgun retention.  Our Spartan Shield Program for school age children offers education from ages 5 – 18, including the finest of the radKids Child Safety and Empowerment Program, education for teens on dating violence and internet safety, and safety training for graduating high school seniors entering a college campus. 

 

As a practicing martial artist for over 35 years, Stephen also provide seminars for martial arts schools, featuring his 3-part seminar series, “Bridging the Gap Between Martial Arts and Self-Protection,” sharing my perspective on self-protection for private citizens based on my dealings with predatory type criminal for many years.

Tiffany Coderre

Fundraising Director

 

Formerly the head food service worker in Rehoboth School and she also the CEO of Bow Wow& Meow Pet Sitting Services. Her family is actively involved with Team United Martial Arts Academy, for the last 2 years. She has helped with organizing & running our team fundraisers. Previously, when her daughter and son were with the Darlington Braves football and cheerleading association, she assisted with fundraising efforts as well as including Bingo nights, and breakfast with Santa events. Tiffany is currently going to CCRI and taking courses to become a certified teacher assistant. Tiffany is essential to our fund raising program at Regional Fight Sports and the Team United Martial Arts Academy.
