Warrior Nation VIII MMA Preview
Regional Fight Sports
Jesse Camp brings Warrior Nation XFA east to Boxborough, Ma. Warrior Nation will be running its first promotional show at the Holiday Inn and may just have their best and deepest show to date. The main event and co-main event are two VERY fan friendly fights. Joey "Lights Out" Pingatore will be taking on Taylor Trahan in the main event and Dom "Hawk" Warr will be taking on the dangerous Ruso Khubejashvili. Both these fights promise fireworks wherever they go and feature some of the most exciting 135/145 lb fighters in the northeast!
In the other pro fight, Steve Carr will return to the cage after a year and a half layoff, taking on the very game, Addison O'Neil, in an all Connecticut battle.
Main Event 135 pro
Joey "Lights Out" Pingatore (4-0-1) NEC vs Taylor Trahan (3-1) Team Link
Pingatore will be looking to live up to his knick name in this one and keep it standing until he connects with a bomb. Pingatore has put many fighters to sleep and is known to fight anyone, anywhere, anytime. He has a good wrestling background and excellent striking. Like his opponent, Pingatore has lots of amateur experience against very tough fighters. His camp NEC/Wai Kru is very strong and, by all accounts, he is more than ready for war in this one!
Trahan also comes from a super tough team, Team Link. His ground game is very strong and his experience level and toughness is undeniable. Trahan has had over 15 amateur fights and was quite successful. He has been on the big stage before in the amateurs and looks to crack the top 10 in the pros in this one. If Taylor can get this one to the ground consistently it could be a long night for Pingatore. If not, it could be a short one for Taylor Trahan. Either way this fight is one of the best main events this year as far as pure action, fan enjoyment and great matchmaking is concerned!
Co-Main Event:145 pro
Dominic "Hawk" Warr (5-3) Wai Kru vs Ruso Khubejashvili (1-0) Connors MMA
In another extremely well matched and potential fight of the night, Dom Warr will bring his one of a kind personality to his backyard when he takes on the Russian power puncher simply known as Ruso. Dominic's crazy training methods and full steam ahead aggressive mentality is winning over the masses in local MMA. He is very awkward and tricky both standing and on the ground and has cardio for days. Dom's last fight ended late in Rnd. 3 by stoppage. Warr got the victory and his hand rose, after he took a ton of punishment from RJ Letendre. He is bringing a 2 fight win streak into this one, along with a great team behind him in Wai Kru/NEC. Dom always looks to finish and is usually there until the end!
Ruso has KO'd several accomplished amateurs in brutal fashion. In his pro debut he showed off some nice wrestling and footwork en route to a decision victory over the experienced kick boxer and martial artist, Tom Evans. Like everyone at Connors MMA, Ruso brings the whole package to the cage and will look to unleash it on Dominic. It's hard to picture anyone hurting Dominic but if it's possible this could be the man to do it. This fight promises to be a WAR. Both guys are hungry and will walk through fire to get at the other. This is like a Rocky vs Drago fight, well a Crazy Rocky vs Drago anyway. This is our pick for fight of the night!
Highlighting the rest of the show is 145 pro's Steve Carr and Addison O'Neil in a battle of Connecticut natives looking to get back on the winning track. Notable amateurs are the very slick FAA product, Nick Mancione, Goliath Young's MMA HW Kevin Smith and Florian's MMA representative Grant Mosely. This should be a VERY entertaining show, can't wait!!!
