Matt "The Mangler" Bessette has been selected our #1 ranked Professional MMA fighter for our July 2016 New England MMA Rankings. Matt has been a professional fighter since September of 2007. He has 26 Professional MMA bouts and 9 of those bouts being on the 2nd largest MMA promotion in the world, Bellator MMA. Matt's trains out of his native home state of Connecticut at Underdog BJJ with head trainer Russell Leak .

Matt is currently on a impressive 4 fight win streak and has a record of 7-2 in Bellator MMA. His most impressive win was over UFC Vet Diego Nunes on February 18th, 2014. Matt's next fight is a very important one for him as he looks to get his 5th straight win for the 2nd time in his career. During this impressive streak Matt has finished all 4 of his challengers not allowing one fight to go to the judges. Matt's last win was at CES MMA on June 10, 2016 when he defeated gritty MMA vet Ran Weathers by guillotine choke in the 1st round.
